Pastels perfectly combine my love to draw and work with color. For me, pastels are tools which feel like extensions of my hand or fingers. And the pure, fresh, luscious pigments are easily manipulated and applied directly to the paper. The colors are permanent and do not fade. Pastels are immediate, versatile, forgiving and wonderfully expressive.

Drawing is my home base and part of all my art. As a fundamental tool, graphite is beautifully basic and amazingly complex. Work that is solely graphite dramatizes the simplicity of black, white and grey. Meeting the challenge to create an illusion of a three-dimensional object on a piece of paper with line, texture and value is my goal. Colored pencil is special because I can build luminous layers of color and create strong lights and darks.
